CAMERA SHOWREEL - SLEEVENOTES
This reel is not so much a representative cross section of my camera work (which covers everything from rock promos to t.v. dramas and many documentaries), just a selection of some of the more intriguing material from the last five years.
MAN ACT (5 1996) was made for the BBC2/Arts Council series Dance for the Camera and like HOMING, GIFT and RESISTOR was directed by Mike Stubbs with whom I formed Metamedia Productions in 1995. I also produced and co-devised those latter three films. It is followed by a clip from BULLYING (45 1996), a public information t.v. commercial produced by the COI which uses a combination of slow camera speed and slow telecine. HOMING (11 1995) is an experimental documentary funded by the BFI and Yorkshire and Humberside Arts. MINE STRIKE (14 1999) was made to help military personnel deal with unexploded mines. It is the only clip on this reel shot on tape - everything else is film. GIFT (14 1997) was shot in the open cast mines of the former East Germany and was part of the BBC2/Arts Council Sound On Film series. WARREN BEATTY'S COAT (5 1998) was made for the BBC2/Arts Council series 'Expanding Pictures'. The effects were all done in camera using a combination of high speed and stop motion (with individual frames exposed for up to five seconds). RESISTOR (8 30 2000), the most recent film, was also made for BBC2/Arts Council series Dance for the Camera. RESISTOR, GIFT, WARREN BEATTY'S COAT and this showreel were edited in Metamedia's digital edit suite in Soho.
